Snowy Valley Council Flood Damage – Multiple Road Sites

This project involves five (5) individual road sites across the northern half of the council area catastrophically damaged by Rockslides and Landslides by a declared natural disaster flood event in October 2016.

Each of the sites sustained significant loss of use requiring stabilisation of Rockfall and Landslide Hazards and Reconstruction.

Due to the difficult geometries and sub-surface conditions of each site innovative designs and construction methods were adopted based on sound Engineering theory, analysis and design.

WCC Engineers provided a full design and construction services using a staged approach:

     A. Geotechnical Investigation, Landslide Hazard Mapping and Risk Assessment to develop Construction Scope (risk-based approach);

     B. Analysis, Design, Construction Drawings and Detailed Construction Cost Estimate;

     C. Prepare Tender Documents inc. Specifications, Contracts and RFT, Run Tender, tender Assessment and Recommendations Report; and

     D. Construction, Geotechnical Supervision, Principals Appointed Person and Contract Administrator.

WCC Engineers undertook all work necessary to progress from concept to delivery by specialised contractors. All stages of work were undertaken in close consultation with Council, while State and Federal level government co-operation was also required due to NDRRA funding.

Construction delivery of outstanding sites is expected mid to late 2019 pending funding release.
